ELECTROLYTE: (e-lek'tro-lite) a substance that dissociates into ions when fused or in solution, thus becoming capable of conducting electricity. Within the body, the electrolytes play an essential role in the working of the cell and in maintaining fluid balance and a normal ACID-BASE BALANCE. Approximately 60% of the bodies water is contained inside the cells and the remaining 40% lies outside the cell. The body's system transports the water to the inside and outside of the cells to stabilize metabolic processes. The level of fluids is determined by the interaction among the electrolytes. Electrolytes are salts which comprise both positively charged ions and negatively charged ions.

The chief electrolyte ions are: Sodium, a key regulator in water balance and is also necessary to normal function of muscles and nerves; Potassium, which is associated with acid-base balance and is one of the main constituents of cell protoplasm; Calcium, which play an integral part in the clotting mechanism and is essential to normal muscle physiology; Magnesium and chloride are essential to chemical changes and necessary for normal body function.

The ratio
of negative ions to positively charged electrolytes determines the level of water in the cells, as the electrolytes pull water into the cells until the volume is reached. The main positive electrolyte minerals include: Chloride, Bicarbonate, Phosphate, and the primary electrolytes outside the cell are sodium and Chloride.

By maintaining
the concentration of the electrolytes inside and outside the cell, the body can regulate the amount of water it contains. The maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance that the amounts of the various electrolytes remain nearly constant, if they are lost they need to be replaced through external sources such as food, beverages, or supplementation (Energy Electrolyte Recharger).
Electrolytes are lost primarily through sweating and result in muscle fatigue and dehydration. When electrolytes are lost, the water balance of the body is thrown off and that causes the brain to send out a signal of thirst. Water alone will not rebalance the the water level to proper levels, but must utilize the electrolytes to result in the proper levels of electrolytes.

The kidneys
and the hormone aldosterone work to maintain the proper levels of electrolytes. When dietary levels of the minerals drop, the body produces more aldesterone and the substance that prevent their excretion in urine. Conversely, as mineral increase, aldosterone decrease and urinary excretion increases. But several factors, including diet can interfere with his regulatory process.
Potassium deficiency in particular can cause low blood pressure, muscle twitches and spasms, rapid or irregular heart beat, constipation, and apathy. These deficiencies may be cause by a poor diet, cortisone therapy, diuretics, diarrhea, vomiting, and sweating. The most common symptoms of potassium deficiency are fatigue and muscle weakness-disturbing to the average person but devastating to the athlete. Many joggers get cramps on their calf muscles while running. Such craps are a warning sign of potassium deficiency and possible deficiencies of magnesium, calcium, or zinc. Leg cramps may precede a heart cramp, which can trigger a fatal heart fibrillation.

Together
and in balance they make a vital tam for health, essential for converting glucose or blood sugar into glycogen, a form of sugar stored in the liver. An important fact to our health and vitality is that without adequate electrolytes, we age faster!!!

Energy Electrolyte
Recharger is food for special dietary use, and is made with food factors. Athletes associate performance, strength, and vitality with electrolytes and ionic minerals. Thesis is an excellent product to fulfill the needs of the athlete. Electrolyte Energy Recharge tablets are ideal for those who participate in sports activities, those who work in high temperature conditions, or anyone who experiences high levels of of fluid loss. The consumption of this product vary according to extent of activity and/or fluid loss. The main source of Marine Minerals naturally occurring, balanced mineral ions, is found in The Great Salt Lake in Utah. Electrolyte Energy recharger contains the full spectrum of the trace mineral elements as well as major minerals with the added benefits of alfalfa and kelp.
